Design studio sessions are suitable for beginners or seasoned sewers, and are designed to enable students to work at their own pace on projects that are of specific interest.
In this course, students will design a fabric print using nature for inspiration, and with assistance create a fabric design to be printed at Spoonflower (no experience required!). Using blocks, students will make a pattern of their choice, toile the pattern for fit, and make the design from the custom fabric.
This course covers simple illustration using water colours (see image to the right), digital editing, and pattern making, but none of these skills are required to complete the course as you will be guided at every step, and techniques such as digital editing will be completed by Sarah, you will simply decide what and how you want the fabric to look, unless you want to do learn how to do it yourself. Basic sewing skills help.
Images to the right show fabrics printed at Spoonflower, images beow represent pattern making and sewing only.
This course runs for 10 weeks.
At Workspace FADS, we have found that once you come to the studios, inspiration is everywhere, so we like to be as flexible as your imagination!
